Together, you can create a garden that reflects the needs and desires of the community, and cultivate a culture of wellness, growth, and togetherness. Additionally, serving on the board can provide you with valuable leadership experience and a chance to connect with others who share your passion for community service and environmentalism. President

Tyeena Carter
The President shall be the Chief Executive Officer of the corporation and shall, subject to the control of the Board of Directors, have general supervision, direction, and control of the activities and Officers of the corporation. The President shall preside at all meetings of the Board of Directors. The President shall be ex-officio a member of all the standing committees, shall have the general powers and duties of management usually vested in the office of a President of a corporation, and shall have other powers and duties as may be prescribed by the Board of Directors or the Bylaws. The President shall also have the following responsibilities.

(a) Organize and lead meetings;
(b) Appoint members to chair committees if there are no volunteers;
(c) Make him or herself readily available to all members;
(d) Be in charge of overseeing voting procedures;
(e) Be in charge of personally telling members if they must relinquish their plot; and
(f) Be responsible for knowing and adhering to all rules, regulations, policies, procedures and restrictions of the community garden(s).


Vice President
In the absence or disability of the President, the Vice Presidents, in order of their rank as fixed by the Board of Directors, or if not ranked, the Vice President designated by the Board of Directors, shall perform all the duties of the President, and when so acting shall have all the powers of, and be subject to all the restrictions on, the President. The Vice Presidents shall have other powers and perform other duties as from time to time may be prescribed for them respectively by the Board of Directors or the Bylaws. The Vice President shall also have the following responsibilities:

(a) Lead meeting when the President is not available;
(b) Help maintain/organize the garden schedule including community days;
(c) Help keep members updated on projects, deadlines and information;
(d) Be responsible for knowing and adhering to all rules, regulations, policies, procedures and restrictions of the community garden(s).


Secretary
The Secretary shall keep, or cause to be kept, a book of minutes at the principal place of business or other place as the Board of Directors may order, of all meetings of the members, and the Board and its committees, with the time and place of holding, whether regular or special, and if special, how authorized, the notice of the meeting given, the names of those present at the meetings, and the proceedings. The Secretary shall keep, or cause to be kept, at the principal place of business in the State of California and any other place as the Board of Directors may order, the original and a copy of the corporation’s Articles and Bylaws, as amended to date. The Secretary shall give, or cause to be given, notice of all meetings of the Board and any committees of the Board required by these Bylaws or by law to be given, shall keep the seal of the corporation in safe custody, and shall have other powers and perform other duties as prescribed by the Board. The Secretary shall keep or cause to be kept, at the principal place of business and any other place as the Board of Directors may order, a membership register, or a duplicated membership register, showing the names of the members and their addresses. The Secretary shall also have the following responsibilities:

(a) Be responsible for all official correspondence of the garden community, except where specific elsewhere in the Bylaws;
(b) Create, maintain and update an active correspondence list; and
(c) Be responsible for knowing and adhering to all rules, regulations, policies, procedures and restrictions of the community garden(s).


Treasurer and Chief Financial Officer

The Treasurer shall be the Chief Financial Officer of the corporation and shall keep and maintain, or cause to be kept and maintained, adequate and correct accounts of the properties and business transactions of the corporation. The books of account shall at all reasonable times be open to inspection by any Director. The Treasurer shall deposit all monies and other valuables in the name and to the credit of the corporation with such depositories as may be designated by the Board of Directors. The Treasurer shall disburse the funds of the corporation as may be ordered by the Board of Directors, shall render to the President and the Directors, whenever they request it, an account of all of his or her transactions and of the financial condition of the corporation, and shall have other powers and perform other duties as may be prescribed by the Board of Directors. The Treasurer shall also have the following responsibilities:

(a) Be in charge of all organizational finances and accounts (including all disbursements and reimbursements);
(b) Keep accurate and updated account on all budgets;
(c) Give a report at every meeting as well as an annual report;
(d) Be responsible for preparing the group’s budget statement for the upcoming year;
(e) Be in charge of collecting all dues and fines of members of the community garden, and keeping them updated on the corporation’s financial standing;
(f) Be responsible for handling monetary aspects of grants and the results of the fundraisers; and
(g) Be responsible for knowing and adhering to all rules, regulations, policies, procedures and restrictions of the community garden(s).

Member at Large
Voted by shareholders, can attend board meetings.  Not an officer, not elected by the board, not required and not a position created in bylaws.
